Spin A CT - QuiltyMom

Hi Everyone, it's Kate (mom2my2monkeys) and I just LOVE Jan's (QuiltyMom) gallery. I know she was spotlighted yesterday, and just like Diana, I'm always in awe of Jan's gallery. I chose to spin her "Saying Goodbye" layout as I just love the way the pictures and elements go so well together.

Here's Jan's Layout (I've linked it too, so that you can stop by the gallery and leave her some love if you'd like)

And here's my spin on this fabulous Layout. I created this layout using "Thankful Hearts"

{Click for full Credits}

If this layout doesn't inspire you to get your scrap stash out and gorgeous pages showing up in your galleries, then you just have to check out the rest of Jan's gallery, as there's SO many gorgeous layouts that you're bound to find something to get your creative juices flowing.

Until next time.

Cyber Monday Bonus Coupon Code

Did you get all your holiday shopping done? Now it's time to do a little shopping for yourself! Here's a bonus coupon code for you:

Now head on over to Krisi's blog to see what she has for you.

Happy Cyber Shopping!

Sunday CT Spotlight: QuiltyMom

Hi there! This is Diana (aka ngneer98). I’m a guest CT member for Chelle this month and am sad to see the month come to a close, but of course I’m excited about the holidays coming up! I’m doing the CT spotlight blog post for today and I picked Jan to stand in the bright glare of the spotlight! Since she’s one of my favorite digi-scrappers, I was thrilled to see she hadn’t been spotlighted yet! YAY!

Not only do I just love Jan’s scrapping style, but I actually got to meet her about a month ago when I was in the DC area with the hubby for a conference. We had lunch and then went to one of the art museums, where we both completely missed the ‘no photography’ sign and got yelled at for taking pictures! OOPS! :D We had a great afternoon getting to know each other, so I’m super excited to spotlight Jan today.

1. What's your favorite layout you've done with Chelle's products?

This is hard to answer because I love using her kits so much. That's why I'm thrilled to be on her CT. But I'd say that it would have to be Finding Jack using All Hallow's Eve. It was for Liz's (mommy22girls) October Inspiration Point challenge and I just love the way it turned out.

Photobucket

2. What's the story behind your username?

I'm horrible with coming up with creative names, that's all. After my son was born in 1998 I found myself wanting to do more quilting. There was a fun project people were doing for the millenium called a Y2K charm quilt (no two pieces of the quilt are the same). You got the different fabrics by swapping with other quilters from around the world. Since I needed to be on the internet for this and needed a username, I came up with QuiltyMom because I was a quilter and a mom. Besides, QuiltMom had already been taken. Yeah - I'm so original.

3. What was the first digital layout you ever did? (if you still have it, can we see it?)

Holy torpedo factory, Batman. You really are a glutton for punishment, aren't you? Well, here it is. Please don't cringe too much! It's not the first one, but the first one from my first-ever speed scrap. Thankfully I've gotten better over the years.

Photobucket

4. Is there any technique you're still trying to master?

Besides trying to come up with a page without using a template? I think it is trying to come up with a layout without using a template. I really struggle with that.

5. If you had to use 1 element 20 times in a layout, what would it be and why?

Eek! Twenty times? Definitely not hearts. Not brads (why are they in kits I've always wondered?). I bet photos don't count, either. Well, it will have to be ribbons and strings. I like the curly ones. But I don't think I've ever used any element twenty times, except for photos!

6. Anything else you’d like to share?

I use StoryBook Creator Plus and love it. It's so simple to use. I just love scrapping, both paper and digi. And my best tip to people just starting out, or who want to learn to do something better is to scraplift. Imitation is a fantastic way to learn. Try to copy everything just as it is. And it's also a good boost when the old mojo has taken a vacation. I guess that's about it.

Check out Jan’s gallery at ScrapMatters here, and leave some love for her amazing layouts!

Tuesday - Time for a Freebie!

Hello Friends!
It's merchi aka Karen here with another fabulous freebie! This one uses "O Come Let Us Adore Him" (I love that song!)

Here's the kit I created this freebie with:

Isn't the dino cute? He's not in the kit though, that was a game Chelle played during DSD...hope you got to play along?

Before I show you the freebie, I have to tell you what it's used for. I'm a homeschooling mom, so we have a pocket chart calendar on our wall. There are some great calendar cards you can buy for this kind of thing...but if you lose one, then your calendar begins to look pretty sad. I decided to make my own cards...this way if I lose one I can just re-print it!

Here's a couple picture of the cards in use:

Great for teachers or homeschooling moms... uses an ABCD pattern, and as you can see the Holy Family lands perfectly on Christmas day! Here's what you'll get:

Even though it starts with day two, I didn't forget day one! lol, It's at the end! I hope you enjoy this freebie! You can download it here.

Monday, November 22, 2010

Good Monday Morning. It's Shanell Here with a great way to express our thanks this Thanksgiving week. I had a great time during DSD weekend. One of the things that I loved were the SAT's (Scrap-A-Thon) challenges. One challenge was to ask someone questions, like an interview. Well, I didn't get it done during the challenge, but I really wanted to do it and thought I would share with you. I asked my daughters something that they loved about their dad. I love how it turned out and so does my Husband.
I used Chelle's Beary Cute Boy (I was so excited to use it since I don't have any little boys running around) and Newsies Alpha.

Your Challenge today is to scrap about what someone in your family, or YOU, loves or appreciates about someone else in your family. I asked all my girls the same question: What do you love about your Daddy? I tried to write it just how they said it. For example, Eliza said she loved watching "basefootball" I didn't want to correct her, it was perfect just how she said it. So, find someone or a few people to tell you what they love about your family...count your blessings this Thanksgiving.

Karen (merchi) asked her kids what they love about each other. I love that they both said they like that they have the same eyes. She used Chelle's Doodled Borders and the kit from the Tell Me More Journaling class.
I really hope you'll take the time to be Thankful this week, even if you aren't in the USA. There are always so many things that we can be grateful for. Remember to upload it to Chelle's gallery if you use her products!

Speaking of being grateful, I am grateful for the family that I have that live so close. On Thursday, we will go to my Aunt and Uncle's house. There will be about 60 people. That's missing some too. We are always needing some activities to keep the kids entertained during the final dinner prep time. I made this for the kids to put together and wanted to pass it along to you. We are very grateful for all of Chelle's fans. I used Chelle's With Thankful Hearts to make a Blessing Mix.

You can download it HERE at 4 shared. It also includes a page to print 2 on a 5x7. Enjoy your week and I can't wait to see all the blessings/thankful pages in the gallery!

CT Spotlight: Cara

Happy Sunday, everyone! Kendall here to bring you another edition of Sunday Spotlight. Today, we are shining the spotlight on one of Chelle's awesome CT members, Cara (colson)! I had the pleasure of interviewing Cara recently so that all of us could get to know her better. Here's what she had to say:

1. How long have you been digi-scrapping and how did you get started? I started digi-scrapping in July 2009 after I saw one of my friend Maria's digi-layouts. I thought "I could do that too!"

2. What program do you use? I use Photoshop CS4. I have it for work and I love using it. I actually am learning new things all the time!

3. Describe your LO style. Hmmm...that's a tough one. I think I'm still trying to find "my" style. I try lots of different things, but primarily right now I'm a "stacker." I love lots of layers and elements stacked on a page. I stack so much that think if I was a traditional scrapbooker, I wouldn't be able to fit my real paper layouts into a book! LOL

4. What kit are you dying to use of Chelle's? Have you already used it? I was dying to use Beary Cute Baby Girl since my child is a boy. Luckily a week or so ago, I was able to make a project for Chelle using that kit, and I was really excited to use it!

Photobucket

5. What is your favorite layout using Chelle's products? My favorite (wow, it's hard to choose!) is my Putting Around layout using Chelle's Hole in One kit. I love how it came together and it's a favorite memory of mine from summer at the lake.

Photobucket

6. What is your favorite tip or trick related to digital scrapping? My favorite tip... hmmmm. I'd have to say rotating and resizing elements and papers. I didn't know how to do that when I first started, and it was very difficult to do it my old way. Now I use Ctrl-T (the transform tool) constantly! He's my best friend.

7. What's one thing people might be surprised to know about you? I'm adopted.

8. What is the one thing in a digi-scrap kit you can't live without? SCATTERS!! If a kit doesn't have scatters, I'll go to another kit to find something and recolor it. It's a requirement on my layouts! :)

Thanks so much, Cara, for letting us spotlight you! Here's a link to Cara's fantastic gallery so you can take a look at even more of her amazing pages. And don't forget to check out Chelle's shop at ScrapMatters to see all the fab products Cara uses on her LOs.

Hi! Happy Saturday. Cara's (aka colson) here today. It's a great day for celebrations - my son's 3rd birthday party is today - so let's celebrate some great layouts from those of you using Chelle's kits! It was fun to look through Chelle's gallery at ScrapMatters to see all the layouts made by such talented scrappers. I've chosen two layouts today to highlight on gallery standouts:

Isn't that adorable?! Such great journaling, fun stitches (I'm a stitch addict!) and I love how she used the Derby kit so wonderfully! Visit her layout and leave her some love!

Next is a tremendously awesome double pager by Merchi.

I love love love this layout. Such funny photos and what a fantastic family memory captured so well with her perfect blend of kits. I envy those who can put things from multiple kits together and make it look so seamless. Well done! Visit the first page of her layout and leave her some love!

Congratulations, ladies! Keep up the great work. We love seeing what you create with Chelle's awesome kits. Please make sure you add Chelle's gallery to your layouts so we can see what you create. Who knows... you may be next to be featured on the Blog!
